Soldiers of 4 Troop, Brigade Reconnaissance Force, have taken part in an operation in Yackchal area of Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The aim was to raid and disrupt an insurgent area of operations.
For most of the operation, 4 Troop came under accurate enemy fire from Underslung Grenade Launchers (UGL), Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) and small arms fire resulting in the troop sniper engaging multiple enemy targets. There was one casualty, who was evacuated by helicopter to the hospital in camp bastion and treated for gunshot wounds.
The Brigade Reconnaissance Force (BRF) is made up of soldiers from Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR) and the 4th Battalion The Rifles (4 RIFLES).
