Pendant que les derniers troupes Canadiens déployés en Afghanistan retournaient de leur déploiement, un autre soldat Canadien s’est suicidé.

mintsmintsmints:

Special Forces raid a house with ANA soldiers, only to be ambushed inside the house itself.

A round impacts the ANA soldier’s magazine (seen in the second gif, watch for sparks).

Apparently the ANA soldier who cut and ran was killed outside the compound, but the SF killed the ambushing insurgent and captured at least two others.

(x)

Shit.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko

Ukrainian Lyudmila Pavlichenko was a Soviet sniper during WWII. Credited with 309 kills, she is often regarded as the most successful female sniper in history. She was also the first member of the Soviet Union to be accepted into the White House and had the following to say about US media:

I am amazed at the kind of questions put to me by the women press correspondents in Washington. Don’t they know there is a war? They asked me silly questions such as do I use powder and rouge and nail polish and do I curl my hair? One reporter even criticized the length of the skirt of my uniform, saying that in America women wear shorter skirts and besides my uniform made me look fat…This made me angry. I wear my uniform with honor. It has the Order of Lenin on it. It has been covered with blood in battle. It is plain to see that with American women what is important is whether they wear silk underwear under their uniforms. What the uniform stands for, they have yet to learn.

Chechen Conflict video.

Probably one of the most gruesome wars of the 90s, mostly because the Russian government and military was still in shambles from the fall of the USSR.

The radio talks in the beginning are a dialogue between between a chechen and a Russian officer. The Chechen asks the commander to turn back, to save his soldiers, to bring them back to their mothers. First, the officer says he isn’t that high of an officer to give such orders. When the chechen continues to ask him to turn back, He says, rather calmly, that he has an order, and he will comply to this order.

wow

Fuck me. This is some pretty intense footage, not for the faint of heart.

marsthebringerofwar:

Is that seriously a knocked out Abrams? How the everloving fuck does that even happen? These are the tanks that eat other lesser tanks. Lesser tanks being anything that isn’t an Abrams.

Destroyed during fighting against Iraqi forces on the road to Baghdad.

I think an RPG or a shell or something might have hit the back of the turret and caused the ammunition to explode(assuming that’s where they keep the ammunition). I don’t notice any big gaping holes in either of these two pictures, just one really fucked up vehicle. And the turret’s turned at a weird angle, like they were trying to shoot something firing from the sides?
Although I don’t think an RPG could do diddly squat to an abrams.
